When all is said and done, the holidays are about coming together and celebrating tradition with your loved ones. The moments that stick with us most are those when life seems to slow down ever so briefly, when we’re gathered around the tree or enjoying a warm meal with our friends and family.
The holidays are also a stressful season – and particularly so for families who struggle to bring tradition to life due to financial constraints. This unfortunate reality has become increasingly more common for children and single-parent families across Europe, where poverty continues to be on the rise.
“Keeping our guiding principle Hello Human to heart, we decided that instead of sending gifts to partners and customers, we would rather put that money toward making the holidays brighter for disadvantaged children. For this reason, this year we are supporting the Engelbaum Christmas project with a donation of 10,000€,” said Shopware CEO Sebastian Hamann.
For 28 years, the Engelbaum Project has collected donations in order to send presents to underprivileged children. For only 30€, donors can spread holiday cheer by sponsoring a child’s Christmas wish. This year, the project was able to provide 1,600 children with presents under their tree. Saint Nick seemed pleased with our idea – on a cold December night, we caught him breaking into the Shopware headquarters, where he got busy making everything a little more festive. Fortunately, our security cameras were able to capture his tour through the building. Watch the holiday action unfold in the following video:
