Shopware rocked the Shop Usability Awards

Looking back on the event in Munich, perhaps the “Shopware blue” carpet at the entrance should have been an indication of the success that was to follow.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Even prior to the final results, this year’s Shop Usability Awards, hosted by Shoplupe GmbH, was a major success for Shopware. A total of 24 Shopware shops were contenders for the final awards. No wonder the Shopware Community was highly anticipating the final results.

50% of the winners were Shopware shops

There were twelve categories, each representing a separate branch of online sales. A panel of 27 high-profile experts selected the winners. When all was said and done, Johannes Altmann, CEO of Shoplupe and moderator of the Shop Usability Awards, revealed that 50% of the winners use Shopware as the basis for their online shop. We are stunned – what an incredible outcome!

Meet the deserving winners

“B2B” category:

GO IN GmbH not only exhibits an eye for design with their functional catering furniture, but also in their online shop. “During our project relaunch, despite having an enormously complex product configurator – single-seat models are available in over a million versions – we never lost sight of the user. We dedicated ourselves to providing an optimal shopping experience in the frontend,” said Stefan Leonhardt, Head of Sales and Marketing at GO IN.

Their effort paid off, as they can now claim “best usability” for an online shop in the B2B sector. “With Shopware and our agency, dasistweb, we have two partners on our side that combine the most innovative technology with ideal design, functionality and usability,” Leonhardt says of their success.

“Leisure, hobby & pets” category:

The experienced and adored piano distributor, Demmer, demonstrated that it sells high-quality pianos with a customer-centric approach, especially in the context of their online shop. Implemented by die.interaktiven, the jury was happy to recognize the Demmer shop for its exceptional usability.

“Fashion” category:

Fashion giant, Gaastra, can now enjoy their new online shop based on Shopware 5, as well as their sparking new Shop Usability Award.

“Special interests” category:

Netshops once again proved its proficiency as an online agency with the Devolo online project. The agency built a highly attractive shop that showcases not only trendy home networking products, but also the Devolo brand itself. With over 10 language shops and a huge international presence, Devolo proved their acute customer-centric approach. However, the evening wasn’t over past claiming the prize for the “Special interests” category, as an even greater surprise was in store for the brand…

“Toys & kids” category:

STABILO is the European market leader for writing instruments. Their online shop, implemented by Shopware partner agency SOWHAT!, offers the perfect interplay between an emotional brand world and online shop – clearly, this positive combination not only resonates well with their massive customer base, but also the jury of this prestigious awards ceremony.

“Watches, jewellery, gifts & lifestyle” category:

Netshops exemplifies the expression, “all good things come in threes” – the online store they built for Zeit took home the category for this highly competitive category, resulting in the third win for the Hamburg-based agency. The online shop is a showcase for exquisite gifts, watches, jewellery and much more – a mixture that subsequently convinced the jury.

Devolo chosen as “Best Brand Shop”

This year included a very special new category, which recognized the best online representation of a brand. Unlike the other twelve categories, the jury did not select the winner; rather, the team at Shoplupe voted from a total of 534 applications. As though the event weren’t successful enough, Tobias Blick, Marketing Director at Shopware, had the honor of announcing the winner for “Best Brand Shop”.

Having already been decorated with the trophy from the “Special Interests” category, it was an even greater surprise for the Devolo shop owner to approach the stage a second time.

For Netshops, this prize was a great honor. “These awards prove that our approach precisely meets the current spirit of eCommerce. With each implementation, we focus entirely on the brand itself – not only on the aesthetic design, but also on connecting targeted customer groups with a rich online experience. For several years now, we have used Shopware for our projects; the platform is the perfect basis for implementing custom eCommerce concepts,” says Stefan Sobczak, CEO of Netshops.

Congratulations to all winners!

We are overjoyed that six category winners at the Shop Usability Awards rely on Shopware for their unique online project – that’s 50% of all trophy-holders. Not only that, but the winner for the special category “Best Brand Shop” is a humbling reflection of our company vision: to sustainably improve the experience of online shopping, now and in the future.

“These results are incredibly significant and meaningful. They once again prove that our eCommerce platform is the perfect basis for creating emotional shopping experiences with high usability. Moreover, these awards exemplify that our solution is appropriate for both startup and enterprise projects, across every industry in online sales,” says Tobias of the outcome.

We are extremely proud of our winners and partners, who dedicate so much passion to creating online stores that always put the customer in the spotlight.
